Are you having a hard time distinguishing between the SharePoint and a simple shared network folder? Does looking at your Document Library in SharePoint inspire you to say, “So what?” In many organizations, whatever the document management issue is, the solution offered is SharePoint. But, what is it REALLY? What can it do to make managing your documents easier and less cumbersome? Answers to these questions and more will be found in “Making the Most of SharePoint Document Management.”

In this session you’ll learn:

  • What SharePoint can do that your network shares can’t
  • How to use Versioning and Check-in/Check-out controls
  • How to let several people edit the same document at the same time
  • How to employ Content Types and Workflows to facilitate moving a document through a process
  • How Document Sets can cut your workload significantly

Veteran trainer Melissa Esquibel will help pull back the curtain on some of SharePoint’s powerful tools for document management and put these tools in your hands. You’ll walk away with new ideas on how to approach your document libraries and processes. If you’re only considering SharePoint, this will be a useful session for you to get an idea of just how effective SharePoint can be at addressing many of your content and process management issues. The course will be taught from SharePoint 2010, but will be substantially applicable to SharePoint 2007, as well.

Speaker: Melissa Esquibel, Microsoft Certified Trainer
Melissa Esquibel lives for the light bulbs that go on over heads as people begin to embrace the technology that may have previously confused and confounded them. Technology is introduced, deployed, employed, and decommissioned faster than you can say, “click here.” The end-user community longs to feel competent and comfortable with the technology they must use to continue to meet objectives. These are the challenges that energize Melissa to find new and creative ways in which to evangelize its application. Melissa is a Microsoft Certified Trainer. She has over 25 years of experience in information technology with a background in training, technical writing, and business risk analysis.
