This snapshot of the 2024 American Society of Administrative Professionals’ State of the Profession report explores the skills administrative professionals must master to keep pace with evolving organizational needs.

The breadth of administrative professionals’ skills matches the sweeping scope of the responsibilities with which they are entrusted. Each AP must harness 21 skills on average and must continuously add new skills to their toolkits to keep pace with shifting organizational needs and technological developments. Not only does our data show that APs acquire an average of six to seven new skills every year, but more than a quarter are enthusiastically pursuing new technical skills, including AI.
